while i was thinking/deciding which of the musical projects under preparation should be published first, i happened to hear a recording of a concert held in 2004 with the big band. listening to the registration and remembering at the same time the enthusiastic reaction present, revealed illuminating: the new record project would be just that, the partial transfer of the concert made with the big band, which was conducted by davide di gregorio. where could we record it, if not in urbino, davide’s birthplace, where we in fact guests in one of the most beautiful italian theatres “il raffaello sanzio”? thus, the theatre became, for a week , a comfortable recording studio. the choice of the repertoire was rather arduous, in fact we have recorded in abundance in regard to what actually ended up on the cd. the final choice on a serious of songs i would have wanted to sing these years, and which i have not had the chance to interpret so far, together with a consistent selection of pieces performed in the concert. the choice concerning the title of the project was made much quicker: “big band” to which an exclamation mark was added later “big band!” it seemed more natural and at the same time the most representative. so, enjoy “big band!” antonella
